A dashboard is a named canvas that holds a set of widgets. You can build as many as you need — a "Daily Operations" board for the front desk, a "Monthly Revenue" board for management — and assign different ones to different parts of Sharper.
Creating and editing dashboards requires dashboard management access on your role. If you can view dashboards but not change them, your administrator can enable it under System Settings → Roles.
Creating a Dashboard
Select Analytics → Dashboards.
Select Add New in the top right.
Complete the fields below.
Select Save.
Field | What It Does |
Name (required) | How the dashboard is identified in lists and in the assignment dropdowns. Make it descriptive — you will be picking it from a list later. |
Columns (required) | How many columns the widget grid is divided into, from 1 to 12. More columns give finer control over widget sizing. This cannot be changed later — see the warning below. |
Theme | The color palette applied to the dashboard and its widgets. The choices are Modern, Sharper, Dynamic, Creator, Royalty, Gas, Princess and Champion. |
Date Range (required) | The range the dashboard loads with, such as Today or This Month. Anyone viewing it can change the range afterwards without affecting this default. |
All Outlets | When on, widgets aggregate across every outlet rather than just the one you are signed in to. Leave off for single-property figures. |
Choose Columns carefully — it is permanent. Once a dashboard is saved, the Columns field is locked and cannot be edited. If you later want a different grid width, the only option is to create a new dashboard and rebuild its widgets, then reassign it in Analytics → Settings. 12 is the safest choice for most dashboards, because it divides evenly into halves, thirds, quarters and sixths, so you keep the most layout flexibility.
Note: The dashboard's Date Range list does not include Custom. A saved default has to be a rolling range such as This Month, which is what makes the dashboard still correct next month. Custom From/To dates are available on the filter bar when viewing.
Viewing a Dashboard
Select Analytics → Dashboards.
Select the dashboard name, or View on its row.
The list shows each dashboard's Name, Theme and Columns, with View, Edit and Delete actions. Selecting Analytics in the sidebar opens the Analyze screen instead, which loads whichever dashboard is assigned as the Analytics default and lets you switch between the others from a dropdown.
The Filter Bar
Every dashboard has a filter bar with two controls, and changing either re-runs all widgets at once:
Date Range — the preset ranges, plus Custom. Choosing Custom reveals a From/To date picker.
All Outlets — switches between single-outlet and multi-outlet figures.
The dashboard's saved Date Range is what loads first; your filter choices are remembered while you stay signed in, so returning to the dashboard restores the range you last used rather than the default.
A widget's date range depends on the report behind it — not every report type has a date column to filter on, so not every widget reflects the dashboard's selected period. See Analytics - Widgets for which report types support it and how to tell the two apart.
Arranging Widgets
While viewing a dashboard you can drag a widget to a new grid position and resize it by dragging its bottom-right corner. Position and size save automatically — there is no Save button for layout.
The Add Widget and Duplicate Widget buttons sit at the top of the dashboard.
Note: Those buttons are hidden when the same dashboard is shown in a module slot (the home, Accounting or POS screens), because module dashboards are read-only. To change what one of those screens shows, open the dashboard from Analytics → Dashboards and edit it there.
Editing and Deleting
To edit, select Analytics → Dashboards and choose Edit on the row. You can change the Name, Theme, Date Range and All Outlets at any time. Columns is greyed out and cannot be changed.
To delete, choose Delete on the row and confirm.
Deleting a dashboard removes all of its widgets permanently and cannot be undone. The reports behind those widgets are not affected. If the dashboard was assigned to a slot in Analytics → Settings, that area will fall back to a plain graphic until you assign a replacement — so check Settings after deleting anything.
