A power meter record links a physical electrical hookup at your campground to a specific site and a billing product. Once configured, staff can record readings against that meter and the system calculates the charge based on consumption and the product's unit price.
Before You Begin
The following must be in place before you can add a power meter:
Site (Space) — The site the meter will be assigned to must already exist. Spaces are managed in Campground → Settings → Spaces.
Power Meter Type — At least one meter type (e.g. 30 Amp, 50 Amp) must be configured. See Campground - Power Meter Types.
Billing Product — A POS product must exist to bill customers for meter usage. The product's unit price is the rate charged per unit of electricity consumed (e.g. per kWh). A separate product is typically created for each service level — for example, Electric – 30A and Electric – 50A. If these products have not been set up yet, create them in the POS module before continuing.
How to Add a Power Meter
From the left navigation pane, click Campground.
Click Settings on the top ribbon.
Select the Power Meters tile.
Click Add New in the top right corner.
Complete the fields — see the reference table below.
Click Save.
Field Reference
Field | Required | Description |
Name | Yes | A label for this meter — typically the site name or hookup identifier (e.g. Site 14 – 30A, C-7 Pedestal) |
Serial Number | No | The physical serial number printed on the meter, if you want to track it in the system |
Power Meter Type | Yes | The electrical service type for this hookup (e.g. 30 Amp, 50 Amp). Must be created first in Campground - Power Meter Types. |
Space | Yes | The site this meter is physically located at |
Product | Yes | The POS product used to generate charges when a reading is recorded. The product's unit price is the rate applied per unit of consumption. |
Wild Energy Meter Number | No | Installer only — used for Wild Energy smart meter integration. This field is not visible to standard staff accounts. |
Inactive | No | When checked, this meter is hidden from meter read batches. History is preserved. Use this for hookups that are temporarily or permanently out of service. |
Wild Energy Integration — Sharper Support Required
The Wild Energy Meter Number field is only visible to Sharper installer accounts. If your property uses Wild Energy smart meters, this field must be configured by the Sharper Support team. Do not attempt to modify it if it becomes visible — incorrect values will break the integration.
Multiple Meters per Site
A site can have more than one meter assigned to it — for example, a 30A and a 50A hookup at the same site. Create a separate meter record for each physical pedestal. All meters assigned to a site are displayed when hovering over that space on the Campground Map (A/R Balance view).
Deactivating a Meter
To remove a meter from active meter read batches without deleting it, open the meter record, check the Inactive box, and save. The meter's reading history is retained. To reactivate, uncheck Inactive and save.
