Bounce the Check Payment
From the Navigation Pane select CRM.
Click Payments from the menu ribbon.
Search for the Customer's name with the bounced payment and find the related payment.
Click on the three dots and select Bounce Check.
If the payment is in an open period:
The payment will automatically settle to the journal entry created for the bounced check.
The payment will be unsettled to the invoice for repayment.
Contact the customer for payment and resend open invoice.
If the payment is in a closed period:
The payment will remain settled to the invoice, and a journal entry will be opened.
It is advised to contact the customer to arrange for a new payment.
Upon receiving the new payment, reconcile the journal entry with the new payment to resolve any outstanding Accounts Receivable generated by the journal entry.
If you have a bounced check fee please ensure to add to the invoice or create a new invoice if in a closed period.
Bounce Check Configuration
To utilize the bounced check feature, the setup must be completed initially within System Settings → Accounting Integration.
If your property has a multi-outlet or TRS/REIT, configure the settings in Company Settings → Accounting Settings. It is essential to create the settings for each outlet.
Configure the Bounced Check Journal Debit Account (typically an accounts receivable account) and the Bounced Check Journal Credit Account (usually the bank account where the ACH are deposited).
When a check bounces in Sharper, the system will utilize the accounts set up to create a journal entry to credit the bank account where the ACH was entered and debit AR to establish a balance on the customer's account for repayment.
